UI SIDES
State UI agencies, multi-state employers, and Third Party Administrators (TPAs) concluded that mutual benefits exist if the electronic exchange of separation information following an employee departure from work and a resultant UI claim filing could be launched and managed electronically and automatically through a standardized transmission process.
UI SIDES is the implementation of the data exchange, which uses a central broker to facilitate the electronic request for separation information and the separation information response between the participating state UI agencies and employers/TPAs. The UI SIDES system uses a common, standardized set of request and response data elements to support this data exchange.
Through the use of UI SIDES, all participating state UI agencies, employers, and TPAs will know ahead of time the exact separation information needed by the UI agency. The data formats and edit controls for this information is defined for all involved, which will improve the completeness and quality of the separation information. Electronic data exchange also improves the timeliness associated with the separation information data exchange and the participants will benefit through the reduction of mailing overhead and postage expense.
